“I knew I wanted to work at Amara the minute I walked in the door!”
Jonna hails from the beautiful, little town of Redlands, California where her family has lived for over four generations. While in California she studied sports massage therapy and ran a successful practice there for 18 years. In 2010 she decided to escape her fast paced California lifestyle and move to a charming town called Hurricane, Utah where her brother and his family resided, boasting of all things quiet and serene. In exploring her new life and the next adventure she found herself attending MA school in Saint George, Utah at DXATC (Dixie Applied Technology College). A class field trip proved destiny was in full swing and delivered the biggest, fastest and most enjoyable twist of fate to date, as she met the man of her dreams and married him within three days…yes, I said three!
Jonna has always been a people person with a nurturing soul. As the eldest girl in the family she can be bossy at times, but that lends to an exceptional employee who doesn’t wait for, but makes things happen! In October of 2011 she became Medical Assistant for Gay Sleight, PA-C at the Amara as a dynamic addition to the health and wellness aspect of the practice. Jonna is absolutely at Amara for the right reasons, exceptional care for her patients, and will always assist you with a smile.
“I enjoy every day here at Amara and have learned so much from working closely with Gay. She is, in a word…AMAZING! I have the opportunity to see her interact with patients with genuine care and attention to their concerns and needs. She listens so intently and is a true master of observation, hearing what they don’t say. I am blessed to work alongside her.”
When not playing at Amara, Jonna thoroughly enjoys the beauty of her surroundings in southern Utah. Exploring the dunes on foot, rock climbing in the jeep, shooting, camping, riding bikes, boating or even pulling weeds out in the backyard…this girl can be found appreciating the outdoors with family.
